I am working with the VL Photographic Image Storage IOD. This IOD
contains the Acquisition Context Module. I read it, but finding it
difficult to determine how to use it. Can anyone offer real world
examples, scenarios of the type of information stored in this module?

Thank you.

The Acquisition Context Module uses the DICOM Content Item structure
to encode attributes that are not captured in DICOM 'native' data
elements. The attribute concept is encoded using a Code Sequence
(i.e., coded vocabulary from SNOMED, LOINC, DICOM Controlled
Terminology, or some other terminology system). [For comparison, in a
'native' data element the attribute concept is captured in the
Attribute Name and encoded using the Attribute Tag.]

For acquisition concepts for photography, you might want to encode
"illumination by ultraviolet light", which does not have a DICOM
native attribute. This could be encoded in an Acquisition Context
Sequence Item with Value Type (0040,A040) = CODE , Concept Name
Sequence (0040,A043) = (F-F3020, SRT, "illumination") , Concept Value
Sequence (0040,A168) = (A-81060, SRT, "ultraviolet light"). [SRT is
used in DICOM to denote SNOMED using the 'SNOMED RT-style'
alphanumeric codes - see DICOM Part 16, Chapter 8.1.]
