Hi Michael, On the recent subject of forcing modern LVD SCA 80-pin drives to work with narrow 50-pin SCSI controllers, which you kindly advised me about on 23-5-09 on this newsgroup, at a quick glance, this seems to be the sort of thing I need (as opposed to the much cheaper and easier to find straight 80-50pin... more »

Goat needed
|
| |
SCSI is NOT magic. There are fundamental technical reasons why it is necessary to sacrifice a young goat to your SCSI chain now and then. John Woods So I've got an existing LVD SCSI chain with a Quantum - Adic tape jukebox. I went to add 4 IBM DHRS drives to the picture. These drives use the simple SCA to 68 pin adapters to feed the drive and... more »

SCSI inquiry to get storage device serial number
|
| |
Hi, I'm trying to get the serial number of a storage device. I've tried sg3_utils and sg_inq does this. I tried calling the functions within the sg3 source files, but I can't seem to build it even after including the relevant header files. I've also tried forming my own SCSI inquiry CDB and sending it to the... more »

RAID-10 AHA-39320A, (4)147GB U320 HD's
|
| |
I originally had (4)147GB U320 HD's setup in a RAID-10. It consisted of one Seagate and, three Fujitsu. All four are attached to 80-Pin converters. Then attached to a 4-Device 68-Pin Cable.. Lately, When the SCSI BIOS loads, it says the Seagate failed. So I replaced it with, the first of three, Fujitsu HD's.... more »

Problem with U320 drive, high byte termination required?
|
| |
Hello folks, sorry this is a bit long-winded, I have a Fujitsu U320 36GB 80-pin drive which I must hook up to a 50-pin SCSI host, naturally this is through a 50-80pin adapter. I do this often with other LVD drives, and there has never been a problem. This drive, a MAP3367NC, now connects fine to the 68 pin bus (this time via a 68-80 pin... more »

Adaptec 1542C with NT4
|
| |
Hi all. I have an old PC with an Adaptec 1542C and an IDE disk. Recently only the IDE disk was connected and the Adaptec was removed. But now I want to make backups from my old SCSI disks (2 Fujitsu disks with arround 400 and 1080MB!) and my SCSI tape Tandberg TDC 3660. Terminators are present at the tape.... more »
