Hi all,
I have a DAC960PD with 2 IBM DCAS 4.3Gb mirrored one each on the first two
channels, then a cdrom on the 3rd.
No matter what I do, the machine won't boot off the cdrom. Even if I install
another scsi hba, then hang the cdrom on that, then install any os on the
mirrored system drive (I tried RedHat 7.1, Windows 2k Advanced Server,
Solaris 8 01/01), the machine won't boot from any devices attached to the
DAC960PD - it just hangs on the "Verifying DMA Pool Data......" bit.
The DAC is not sharing an IRQ with anyting, and all termination is done
properly too. I recently bought the Mylex 2nd hand and am now wondering
whether there's something wrong with it, although as long as i boot from for
instance floppy all seems well (tried an hour-long Bonnie test on the mirror
and it works a charm).
Any help would be very greatly appreciated!!!!
Many thanks in advance,

Kai.

You have to consider two things in booting from an Mylex dac960PD

First:
Firmware has to of the last revision (3.52????)

and it is not capable to boot from all varriants of bootable CDs.

It is.

???

Any ideas on what kind is or isn't supported (well, I guess I found out the
hard way already)?

Still this doesn't explain why the darn thing won't boot from the array
after installation of RH/Solaris...

Many thanks for your help,

Kai.
