Hi !!

Who can help ?

I backup my disk partitions by using DRIVEIMAGE 2.0 ( from POWERQUEST
) to a SYJET 1.5 Go.

As this external HD can be used either connected to LPT1 or to a SCSI
card,I started with the // port. The transfer rate was so poor that I
installed a TEKRAM 390F SCSI card (8 bits ).

Though the performance is still very bad. There is no difference with
the previous combination. For example it takes 1 hour and 6 minutes
to backup 1170 MB.

No help from SYQUEST since they are out of business nor from the
european POWERQUEST tech support which told me my TEKRAM
is too old.

Does anyone could help me solve this problem.

Many thanks in advance.

I don't have a solution for you but you might ask on the newsgroup
alt.syquest.
is the Techram card SCSI-2?

Yes, move up to a PCI 16 bit controller and you should notice a
difference.

The Tekram 390F (actually DC 390F) is fast PCI SCSI UW adapter
based on a SYM53C875 chip. It has internal/external 68pin
connectors and an internal 50pin connector.

I suppose the ``8 bits'' refers to the SCSI bus width.
