Subject: Mounting External Scsi Drive under Winnt without rebooting?
Hello,
I have an external hard drive plugged to an adaptec isa scsi 2 card. Each
time I want to use it I have to reboot my winnt4.
Is there a solution to mount the drive without booting? With win9x it is
possible to unactivate an reactivate the scsi board.
Thanks for your idea.

In UNIX you can do this easily, by running a shell script to issue a
few commands.

Unless somebody wrote another utility, then NT needs a reboot to scan
for new devices.  Perhaps windows nt server 2000 fixes this problem
(at one time MSFT said they would fix it in Win2000).

Try this:
control panel> tape devices>detect
I use this to activate my scanner, but I've never done this with an external
drive.

Does NT have a Device Manager?  Is there a Refresh button?
