It's worth noting that Nikon DOES NOT still repair these. If you send
one to Nikon, it will be returned, and you will be out 2 to 6 weeks plus
the cost of shipping (both ways).

Haha! Yes, the header of his posting reveals that he is Dutch, the

Do you work on other brands as well? A while back I bought a used
Minolta Dimage Scan Dual IV for an archiving project, and I suppose it
would be a good idea to at least have it checked over, cleaned, and if
necessary adjusted before I begin scanning my slides.
I'd appreciate your advice and a ballpark estimate of the cost if I
decide to pursue this.
I was glad to come across your message, since I didn't have a clue
about the possibility of having this kind of work done.

It may help if you post the symptoms of the fault here - for example is it a
problem with fuzzy images (indicating dirty optics) or is the scanner
making clicking noises or failing to initialise (with front LED flashing)
which would indicate problems with dried lubrication?
Either of these faults can be repaired by yourself if you are careful,
cleaning instructions can be found on several websites such as :-
http://www.vad1.com/photo/dirty-scanner/ls2000-cleaning/
These instructions are for cleaning the optics - for lubrication problems
you'll need to use an alcohol based cleaner to remove all old grease from
the rails both sides and apply new grease.
