Epson R800 and heavy watercolor paper

have been using Strathmore cold press 140lb watercolor paper in my
Epson R800 with results that are perfect for my purpose. Now, all of a
sudden the printer refuses to print on that paper. It prints on
lighter weight paper, but it just shoots the Strathmore through without
printing on it.

I really need this technique to continue working. I am in the middle
of a fine art project with a show coming up. Can anyone help?

TRY RESETTING THE PAPER THICKNESS ADJUSTMENT. ALSO TRY UNINSTALLING THE
PRINTER AND THEN RE-INSTALLING IT. DO NOT INSTALL THE NEW OVER THE OLD
WITHOUT UNINSTALLING. MAYBE YOU NEED TO HAVE A PRINT SIDE UP?

I've reset the paper thickness adjustment. I'll try
uninstall/reinstall. What do you mean "print side up?" Strathmore
watercolor paper is the same on both sides.

I uninstalled and reinstalled. It didn't solve my problem. It still
prints only on the thinner paper.

I really need to use a heavier paper. Darn. Why would it work fine
with this paper, and then all of a sudden stop working fine?

Epson printers shoot the paper through if it arrives too late at the
"mark" it is supposed to. This is almost always the result of the paper
slipping slightly.

Almost all inkjet materials have a coating that is transferable to
rubber rollers, for instance, and these rollers become glazed and begin
to slip.

To fix this you need to clean the rollers. You can use isopropyl
alcohol, or a bit of ammoniated window cleaner. Use a long cotton swab
or equivalent and clean the surface of the wheels that drive the paper
forward.

Your printer may have glazed paper transport rollers. Inkjet papers are
often coated with surfaces which can come off onto the rubberized roller
in the printer and make them slip somewhat The rollers need to be
cleaned to bring the paper transport to normal health.
