XEROX DOCUPRINT P8EX MONO LASER 1200DPI 4MB

VS.

HP LASERJET 1100XI MONO LASER 600DPI 2MB
-----------------------------

Not counting the Xerox USB/1200DPI/1K more Monthly volume advantages. Has
anyone had the chance to A/B compare these two printers? Want a High Print
Quality for Pictures (logos/Scanned images etc, in greyscale for end results
of high quality prints from PDF files) for professional business quality (at
the below $400).

Anyone seen or used these 2 printers and know the output quality, I would
really like your input on your use of these printers. Also interested in
how well the USB works on the Xerox printer (works correctly? and Is there a
quality difference from between USB & Parallel printing?)

Thank You.

I have the P8ex, and am very satisfied. The USB driver has worked just
fine with no glitches. It comes with 4MB memory, but if you are going
to be doing lots of graphics, you may need some extra memory. Uses
std. 72 pin SIMMS, EDO, non parity. Have not directly compared it with
HP 1000, though. I like the small footprint, and it works in Linux
just fine, with any PCL driver you might want to use.

Thanks for the input.. Knowing it works with Linux is a Plus also, since I'm
interested in getting into the linux OS soon.

I just purchased an HP 1100. As it has the PCL in printer ROM, I'd
expect it to work with Linux or any other OS that can send the correct
strings to the printer.

If the 1100xi has the PCL in ROM then it should work fine with
whatever PCL level is supported by Linux.
