Hi,
I have a project to complete over the weekend, which involves a computer
system for a University Department to include two 'state of the art'
printers.
Could someone kindly suggest a suitable model please?
It seems now the way the computer part is working out, that I will have
(hypothetically!!!) around £5k to £6k to spend in total, maybe a bit more.
Thanks for any help,
Regards,
Steve.

What do you want the printer to do? Text, Graphics, A0/1/2/3/4, Laser,
Inkjet?

Hi Les,
The main use is Text, but the IT students will be able to access it over the
network and they do some graphic work, including photographs.
I think 80% text with the rest mainly posters and less than 5% photos.
As to the size, then probably A3 would be the biggest generally used,
although sometimes the option of bigger would be nice.
Sorry to be rather vague, but I've been told to get on with it!!
Thanks again,
Steve.

On a multi user system like this I would go for two printers. One designed
to print B&W text docs fast (but with modest colour capability) and another
to print photos only.

Just get a cheap inkjet printer. The £5k to £6k you have left will just
about cover the cost of ink for a year. :}

I second that. Especially if the university is a public one. You'll be saving
the taxpayers money, something else about to think.
