Red printed out as a deep purple
Green printed out as a light purple
Blue printed out as a medium purple
Yellow printed out as deep purple.
The printer cartridges are half full, so not an empty cartridge
problem. I have not utilized the monochrome function of the printer.
There is no problem with text printing, as it is black as supposed to
be. Would appreciate any helpful hints as to the problem.

What is a catch.
The problem is in that the BLACK and COLOR inkjet head, we are talking
about nozzle part of package, are the same. Only they are different in
some barriers in nozzle or ink feed sections. And it happened that in the
early production these barriers are not sealing enough and separating
different nozzles one from each other.
So now you have a trouble with magenta dripping in the yellow, but if you
install an empty or near empty magenta and full new yellow, you will have
trouble with yellow dripping in magenta.
In fact the same problem can happened between cyan and magenta but never
between cyan and yellow.
I hope this helps

Thanks for your reply. I have just contacted a Canon technician on
the phone at their customer care center. He informed me that Canon
has never heard of this problem with the print head. Since this is
not a known problem to Canon they will not replace the printhead free
of charge under the one year warranty. In fact, according to him,
printheads are not covered by warranty anyway. They are classed as
consumables and thus not warrented. He did suggest I contact Canon
sales and buy one from them. Do any other manufacturers cover
printheads under their warranty? I will probably scrap this printer
and buy another brand.
Buddy
Just want to knew for statistical purpose. We have had personally
experienced four such cases in the last six months and after your reply I
will tell what is our score.

No, the cartridges have not been refilled. They are Canon cartridges
with Canon ink. So, do you think the solution to this problem is to
replace the printhead? Or replace the ink? Thanks for your reply.
Buddy
We have here 20 - 30 regular customers with Canon BJC 6000 that are using
our refill sets and ink on regular basis.
So according to experience on this customer base an considering that the
most of them are using this printer on semi professional way and considering
the amount of ink they are using before they decide to replace some head,
this is very interesting technological problem.
It is interesting that it use to happen after 2 - 4 ink replacement, and
after this you can spend 150 - 200 ml of ink without problem. Or it depends
on quality of ink you are using or you have been doing something wrong.
For your record these four head we have been talking about, two of them have
been refilled and have failed after 2 - 3 refills. The customers have been
accusing us that cause of this has been in the quality of ink we have been
using. So when you have a such a number of regular customers, you have to
investigate this problem a bit deeper and see what you can do about.
Because the wrong ink would ruin you business if the heads starts to fall as
a flays.
The third one has never refill cartridges. He used only originals as well
as you did.
The fourth one has been settled by our self in developing and research.
It is significant that these there persons are inexperienced and occasional
users, and that users that use this printer on professional basis has never
complained about this problem.
It is possible that cause of this problem is leading somewhere else not
only to the quality .
So I would kindly ask you that you try to remember when you have the last
time replace the tanks before this has happened.
Then I will try to make some more conclusions.

I have had this printer about five months. I am still using the
original ink and tanks. I don't think I have been doing anything
wrong. The prints were coming out of the printer with no problem
until suddenly they were all purple. Nothing was changed to cause
this to occur.
Buddy
PROBLEM SOLVED!! I think I have solved the probem with the purple
printing. I removed the BJ cartridge with the tanks still installed
and soaked it in about a half inch of hot water for about five
minutes. There was quite a bit of black ink and blue ink on the paper
towel I had the cartridge sitting on in the hot water. I removed it
from the hot water and dried it off with a paper towel. I then
removed the tanks and using a cotton swab, I wiped alcohol on the
bottom and top of the head where the tanks sit. I then used the
maintenance program to both clean and deep clean the printhead. I ran
off several prints to test the output and they looked great. So I
suppose the printhead was clogged up with dried ink. I hope this
helps anyone else who has this same problem.

Take this attached file and print it. You have to get all four color blocks
clear.
If there is tunnel connection the head you will see some contaminated area
in the beginning of that color block. Or better said on the beginning of
the each pass if you are using bi-directional print. It would be up to 5 mm
long at the first pass would be the longest one.
If you replace that color cartridge with a full one, the same problem will
be happened. But now the neighbor color would be contaminated.
The explanation is the following.
It you are not evenly using all three inks, or if you are using mainly one
color, than for the ink jet head it is easier to fetch ink from neighbor
chamber than to get at time and in the quantity from that tank and some kind
of interconnection could happened because of created pressure difference.

Could you help? Friend has a new 6000.
He plugged it in, but it makes a lot of noise and he said the ink cartridges
are stuck, that is, they don't move back and forth. Then it goes off online.
Any suggestions or comments? Thanks. Mi...@aol.com (Please respond to this
newsgroup.)

This is Mirse. I posted the original message above. My friend got his new
Canon 6000 working. He had set it up wrong when he took it out of the box.

You know, the sad thing we have found is that Canon has no warranty on any
cartridge and/or print-head unit that is user replaceable. Most companies
give you a 30-60 day warranty on cartridges (like HP) that warrants them
against defects. If the cartridge is bad, HP will generally replace it.
Canon will not replace cartridges. If you get a brand new BC-20 cartridge
home and it dies (which has happened to my sister before) - they refuse to
replace the unit because it is user replaceable and perishable item.
