is not dependent on the Products Supported under this Agreement.

In other words, it appears you can't have any backup systems as part of the
same HP contract. Does anyone have any comments ? Is this some small print
designed to try and make sure you can't sue HP in case of HP caused data
loss ?

What are "the Products Supported under this Agreement" ?
It could be a compiler or whatever...
In this case, it's the site contract which includes hardware, software
updates and support. A literal reading of the condition would mean that
you cannot have everything, including backup systems, on the one
contract.
If the contract includes OpenVMS (which in turn includes BACKUP),
then yes, it sounds a bit weird... :-)

That is because HP expects you to backup VMS to an HP product such as
Windows. :-)
For truly paranoid people who really really need redundancy, you might
want to have your backup system on a separate maintenance contract. Say
there is a paperwork safu and some drone in india who screen support
calls sess that your contract has expired and that your mission critical
system that is down cannot be fixed, at least you know that the backup
system, being on a separate contract, would be suppported.
Poorly worded, but the contract also seemed to be pointing at the
customer as being responsible for off-site backup. Even VMS only
ran through 9/11 by having off-site clustering for systems in the
towers.
