I'll work with you to get it moved across country, wherever it needs to
go. I've owned enough pinball machines, video games, and vintage
computers to know how that's the tricky part, but we can always come up
with something.

THAT is a cool auction and an important piece of history - hopefully
someone that knows how to use it will pick this up.

Er, that would be a bit of a round-trip, don't you think? If he still
wanted it, he'd still have it!

Damn...
I collect old computer systems and have a robotron and defender in my
basement. I have a feeling it might go for crazy money.
Good to see you post here Duncan. I hope to see you at expo.

Do you know if there is any source code on any of the disks?
Thanks-
Sean
Wish I could adopt the system, I'm a bit far away and I don't have
extra time to take care of the system. I grew up on this system. When
the IBM PC came out I couldn't understand how anyone could tolerate a
single user system after having done development work with the Ghost.
I loved the fact that we could run 3 developers (C and assembly
language), a secretary, a printer and EPROM burner. Those were the
good old days.

this should be donated (or offered to, at a reasonable fee) to
the electronics conservancy, videotopia.com -- that way it
will be put on display in their traveling exhibit.
just my opinion, of course...
I thought the raison d'etre of videotopia was to bring functioning video
games to the masses, so they could play them and experience history,
instead of just reading about it. I can't think of a good way for a
Gimix box to become part of a functioning museum exhibit! It needs to
go to someone who will actually use it, keep it operational, etc.
On a side note, I sold videotopia a fairly pristine I, Robot for a song
about 12 years ago, when they were first building up their collection.

safestuff1-
Please let us know what's on the disks! Some of us would probably
also help offset your cost.
Thanks-
Sean
Duncan-
I was going to bid $1337, but it made it to $1825, a bit higher than I
was willing to go. And it would probably cost me about the same to
drive to IL and get it.
