:>This one is right along the lines of the Number 9 video thread, so that's
:>why I gave it a similar title. While #9 deserves some flack, atliest
:>they _are_ doing something. As I'll show below, that is not always the
:>case.
:>
:>Here it goes...
:>
:>I've been waiting for well over two months for new C&T video drivers for
:>my P90 laptop -- and lo', what does C&T do? They decide to "delay" the
:>release of updated drivers till October. Before you think I gripe for no
:>reason, here's some history...
:>
:>1. The present video drivers are acknowledged by C&T, the reseller who
:> wants to sell the drivers for $50 a piece, and the manufacturer of the
:> laptop I have as "unstable". Not one of them suggested I even try the
:> drivers to see if they would work.
:>
:>2. The system BIOS on my laptop is incompatable with the video drivers,
:> and earlier versions of the BIOS 'probably won't help you much since
:> the drivers are so bad' (laptop manufacturer).
:>
:>3. The last due date for new drivers was August 15th. Up to a few days
:> after that date, the announcement was that the new drivers would be
:> available "in a couple days". Around August the 20th, the date jumped
:> to mid-October.
:>
:>4. When asked if C&T was planning on dumping OS/2 support, the laptop
:> manufacturer said 'you never know with C&T -- they only reluctantly
:> provide Windows drivers, and are not too thrilled with doing anything
:> else...they could just as easily deliver drivers in October as they
:> are to never deliver upgrades again'.
:>
:>5. If you are wondering if I checked this all out _before_ buying the
:> laptop, be assured I did; both C&T and the laptop manufacturer assured
:> me that while drivers that were usable were not available yet, they
:> shortly would be -- so purchase without fear!
:>
:>6. One comment from C&T that just about set me off;
:>
:> Me: I have a laptop with a C&T chipset --
:>
:> Them: -- That was a wise choice! We pride ourselves on our
:> compatability and customer satisfaction, that's why more laptop
:> manufacturers use our chipset than any other ...
:>
:> The employee backpeddled after I pointed out that _this_ owner was not
:> quite so satisfied, and that promises of compatability have yet to be
:> even remotely met. To knock them down a notch or two, more I pointed
:> out a few nice little defects in the Windows drivers they did provide
:> -- so much for perfection!
Hi Andy,
PLEASE!!! Spread this message around!!! Make sure C&T KNOWS how you
will tell anyone who'll listen (and many who don't) that they've LIED to
you. I know it's too late for you now (unless you can still return it...in
which case I would) but you can at least save some others from a similar fate
(along with a little satisfaction from knowing you're probably costing them
some money). Don't let them off the hook...keep on their ass until they
deliver what they promised.
...Good Luck,
...Norm
