Hi All

Whenever my son visits and brings his Windows7 laptop with him to
download "stuff" his laptop seems to grab the internet connection for
itself.

I could be downloading a file at a reasonable speed, eg 116Kbs, but when
his laptop starts a download - usually using utorrent - my download
speed will drop to something like 11.6Kbs while his laptop will be
downloading at 236Kbs.

If I do not have a download ongoing at the time then trying to access
websites becomes exceedingly slow, minutes to load a simple page such as
os2world.com.

Is there anyway of limiting this visiting laptops connection speed? -
any Window7 settings that can be tweaked to slow it down?

Regards

Pete

There's an option in utorrent to limit download (and upload) speed, so
you could ask your son to use it. Alternatively you could look for QoS
settings in your modem/router.

Hi Sid

I'll have a loot at that when he is next here with offending laptop.

There does not seem to be any way to limit connection speed in the
router settings (Asus WL500g).

Thanks
