I can't see the networked machine, but I can still access its drives!!

We are running a 3-machine (sometimes 4) home network using a mixture of
Warp 4 FP15 and eCS Preview 1 (basically the MCP).

The connections I defined to my son's machine (running eCS Prev1) still
work; e.g., I can still access his E: drive as P: on my machine, but his
machine does not show up at all when I try to create new connections
from the "Shared Resources and Network Connections" notebook. Nor does
his machine itself show up in Back Again/2000, but I can still back up
all his drives using the BA/2K command-line program via their UNC
definitions: \\<machine_name>\<drive_name>\*

Any idea how this could be?

Yes.
srv hidden=yes in the ibmlan.ini

Have a look at IBMLAN\IBMLAN.INI in the [peer] section. The value
srvhidden is set to yes by default I believe and needs to be set to no
so that other systems can see the machine, ie:

srvhidden = no

If that's already set Alan then I'm out of my depth.
