Either the DOS stub - by default LX executables contain a DOS stub,
although it makes not sense for one cent in case of DLLs - or different
compression options are used. The more appropriate way to compare
executables is to uncompress them and remove the DOS stub. This should
result in binary identical images.

Hmm, I could bet that the only difference in these two DLLs is the
EXEPACK option.

And I have absolutely no idea what kind of bug in a C runtime could
cause the sound to be nearly quiet without to cause any other trouble.

[link] shows "gcc4core-1_2_1.wpi" dated 01/20/2012, I
pulled this and installed on my machine, however, prior to doing so noted that
GCC446.DLL was quite the different size then what I had already present:

Correct...the VLC control GUI did not show up at all, only the actual video
playback window would show and it was playing back the video itself just fine.
The problem was obviously having no control over that window...and I really
didn't try any keyboard based short-cuts.

You can see the popupos2.log on your boot drive.

And you can generate the logs as the following.

vlc.exe -vvv --extraintf=logger > vlc.log 2>&1

Of course, you should do it on command line.

Then, send vlc.log and vlc-log.txt to me.

I'll add this to README at the later release.
