I have spent a number of hours trying, but cannot get BOOTABLE to
create a maintenance partition that will boot. every attempt I make
results in a hang with the eCS 2.0 RCa logo hanging on SCREEN01.SYS.
(which is also what happens every time I try to boot an old
maintenance partition with any more recent kernel file installed.)

I run

L:\OS2\bootAble\bootAble.cmd L\OS2\bootAble\bootAble.MyConfig L:
\OS2\bootAble\bootAble.MyConfigasked

You could try using just VGA insted of snap. Then if it boots add

thanks for the idea -- the funny thing is I had been trying with VGA
all along, changing to SNAP was one of the last things I did.

not sure I'm going to have any choice but do install another full eCS
beta into another partition!

What happened to MyConfigAddOn.list ???

I suspect that something is missing.

after some back and forth with Doug B, I managed to get a maintenance
partition up and running by

1) following the directions for manually adding ACPI support in \ecs
\DOC\ACPI\ACPI.doc, then

2) configuring SNAP for very basic VGA support:

VIDEODRIVER=3

VIDEORESOLUTION=0
WPSSHELLFONTSIZE=3

VIDEOCOLORDEPTH=1

not especially fast, but stable.
