Subject: mscoree.dll
A scan for problems on my computer showed I did not have
"mscorree.dll".
I located it and it is NOW in \windows\system.
However, applications needing this now pop up with a message to set
register key

\HKLM\Microsoft\.NETFramework\Installroot to pont to the .NetFramwork
Install Location

Any clues on
a) why I didn't have it in the right place (according to my Norton
utiliities)
b) why it is still not OK?
c) What I should do to fix it?

All my software is ligitimate.

More:
I check MSDN for the Microsoft explanation and cure, but my system is
Windows 2000 Professional
And the application that I wanted run is OLD!
So why should it request mscoree.dll and why would my Norton System
works (of the same age and installation) also state the module is not
there? I suspect something to do with an Intel application (FORTRAN) I
bought but did not install.

It's part of the .NET framework - install that.

Here's a clue, POST TO THE CORRECT GROUP.

This group is for MS-DOS, which is why it's name is
"comp.os.msdos.programmer".

There is no registry in MS-DOS.

There is no .NET framework in MS-DOS.

You have a WINDOWS problem, ask in a WINDOWS group.  And probably not
one for programmers, your question has nothing to do with programming
anything.

Oh, I belatedly agree with line one, (but not line two- it's all
about programming..).

I program for MSDOS and DOS only, but on a Windows machine which is
complaining.
And I need to communicate which also requires a working Windows
machine. Right now it's dicey..

Sorry to have disturbed some of you. Try to think of it as a cry in
the night..
