Hi there,

I'm hoping someone out there can help me in the search for a DOS program
that can be used to warm/cold boot a PC.

I'd place it at the end of a batch file, on a mail router machine; that
way if the program were to terminate unexpectedly the PC would reboot,
log itself back in, etc.

I used to have "WARMBOOT.COM" and "COLDBOOT.COM" that would have worked
perfectly, alas these have been turfed amongst a box load of disks..

Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

Matt....

REBOOT is distributed with the Free-DOS Project. The install disks are
at my site:

http://www.isd.net/jhall1/freedos/disks

If you won't want to install the entire Free-DOS distribution (which you
probably don't since you just need the REBOOT command) then just grab
the BASE-1.ZIP disk image, and extract REBOOT.

To learn more about Free-DOS, visit either:

I did a debug -u of my old reboot program:

0A96:0100 B84000 MOV AX,0040
0A96:0103 8ED8 MOV DS,AX
0A96:0105 C70672003412 MOV WORD PTR [0072],1234
0A96:010B EA0000FFFF JMP FFFF:0000

I think that this flavor does a memory check.

Hi Jonathan,
This is an XT style reboot.
For later PC's more is recommended.
See you, Eric

Many many thanks for everyone's help!

For ineterest's sake, i've implemented the following:

@echo g=ffff:0000 | debug

as a solution and it works very well.

I'll be taking a look at the others too.

Thanks again,

Matt...

"REBOOT.COM" has been posted a few times here and can be executed
from a batch file with the following lines:
echo HPS=CB> reboot.com
reboot

Note that the "HPS" is all in caps and the fourth character is
generated by holding the ALT key while pressing "203" on the numeric
keypad.
On most computers this should give a warm boot.

Seems like you mean 'save' to a specific folder:
Just hit 'S' and follow the prompts.
) 2) Can I have more then one NEWS server ?
Yes. For each News Server you need a separate '.pinerc' file that
references the server and a separate '.newsrc' file.
Humble suggestion: Try to choose one server and stick with it. I am
playing around with three of them right now, and it's a real headache.
Best of luck to you.
