Is there a call for a new menu program for DOS? One that has a
GUI and multi-tasking support? With Win32 Start Menu and toolbar-like
support? File dir display? Auto-run a program or open a document?
What about little applets such as a notepad or calculator? Any other
ideas would be welcome.

With the exception of "multi-tasking support", you would be
duplicating any of nearly hundreds of these types of programs,
including what is already included with most DOS versions from version
4.0 onward.

I'm curious what you mean by "multi-tasking support".

Since the year 2000 i am working on a MFC-like TUI API for DOS (16 bit)
supporting multi-threading (on application level), MDI Interface etc.
If we have a lot of rainy weekends i will release the source code 2011.

What about working on it together?
Your call makes me believe that you have a lot of time ;-)

Why don't you both donate your time to the doscore project

http://doscore.net . There is far too much redundancy in free software
projects, and doscore sure needs the help.

What language is the doscore gui built in, and what CPU does it
require? I was unable to find that information on the website.
