In general, it is highly recommended to post such requests to
help-gn...@gnu.org or emacs...@gnu.org. That's where Emacs
users and developers hang out. There's only one Emacs developer here,
and he currently doesn't have too much time to be of sufficient help ;-)

When you customize and option, there's a menu of choices in the
Customize buffer, which has menu item "Save for future sessions".
Click on that, and the setting will be written to your .emacs file.
