Is anyone still here? Has anyone gotten the impression that the
current JPSoft support forum is about ten steps back from the old days
here on this NG?

Why in the world did they move from the old SparkList?

Yes, this NG is still active - and relates to the freeware version of 4DOS,
maintained by Lucho (Luchezar Georgiev). However, its usage is dwindling,
and thus the traffic here as well.

Yes, many of us do. Unfortunately there are many people moving away from the
keyboard to the mouse, and from using their brains to using only their eyes.
As to moving away from Sparklist, there were many good and valid reasons,
the problem is what software JPsoft moved to.

Yes indeed. The current software they are using is hideous, at least
for someone who accesses the forum strictly via email. Perhaps the web
interface is better?

I believe a Yahoo or Google group would be superior.

I wonder what Rexx was thinking?

I don't know, I hate using it. Rex is under the impression that the majority
of forum users prefers the web interface.

Are they available for commercial customers at reasonable price? Do they
have both web and email interface?

REXX is an IBM software product. Rex (the latin word for "king") is a name.

Rex beta-tested two other products, both of which were superior to the one
which he chose for nntp:, news: or smtp: access. I never tried either of
them for web-access. Maybe the current one is superior to alternates for web
access...

Yes, they have both web and email interfaces. If a user selects email,
he may receive individual emails, or a single email daily containing
all the messages that day.

I don't know about charges for commercial users. I am the owner of
several non-commercial groups, but in all my wandering around Yahoo
Groups I have never seen any indication that Yahoo charged anyone for
using the Groups. There are many commercial software products that use
Yahoo Groups. See
http://tech.dir.groups.yahoo.com/dir/Computers___Internet/
for examples.

Certainly you are correct. I'm getting sloppy in my old age.
