Most of my games work, but Mortal Kombat II (PC CD) doesn't. I set it
for full screen, but all it does it give me a black screen and the
game hangs. Needed to ctrl-exc back to the desktop and terminate it.
Running in MSDOS mode didn't work, either. (and why does mscdex take
forever to run in build 950r2?)

The troubleshooting help for running MSDOS programs didn't help me,
either... Any other ideas?

Thanks for any help you can give...

There is a file called 'CMOS' or something like that in your MKII directory.
Delete that, and all will be well.

I don't have Mortal Kombat II, but I've succeeded in running every DOS game so
far in Build 347. I drag the executable to my desktop and use the PROPERTIES
section to reboot with a specific AUTOEXEC.BAT. Sometimes it'll run under
"Windows" if I click the PROTECTED MODE box instead. If you've already tried
that, drop me a line and I'll give you some more ways to tinker. :)

I think this was "improved" in the later builds. I remember doing it like
you say with an early build, but the properties page changed. They give a
checkbox menu for major configuration items dealing with memory and such, or
let you edit a config.sys and autoexec.bat file in an edit window. I don't
think the later builds support invoking a named file for the .sys and .bat
functions anymore. In my case, if I boot back to the DOS mode, my normal .sys
does not load my cdrom driver (since I normally use the protected mode W95
versions). There is an arcane sequence I find I have to hand edit into the
sys edit window to load my driver, and another I have to enter into the .bat
to load MSCDEX. Being able to load named files (or setup one file with the
defaults) would be far better for me than the new way of setting the
properties.

Am I missing easy way to do this?

*** Go to setup in the win95 directory and change the video display
driver to plain VGA. This sort of problem occurs if you have initialized
a different video driver like an actix/gxe 1024x768.

*** Troubleshooting in MSDOS will not help it is probably a problem of video
setting using bit map entry

After I rename the autoexec.bat and config.sys files, how do I get my
CD ROM drivers to load? Please email me at fl...@airmail.net.
Thanks.
