As of today, Oct 9, there are now beta drivers for the NV1 chipset
available for download at the Nvidia site. Now don't bother rushing off
there yet for the elusive acclerated Direct3D drivers.

I only mention this because these are the same drivers that Diamond (and
others, I imagine) have released lately stating that they supoort
Direct3D. The Nvidia driver release notes clearly states that they
provide "compatiblity with Direct3D (software only)." Software only!?
The Diamond release notes are not clear on the subject and when I
contacted their on-line live support (talkcity) they claimed that D3D
was accelerated in this release, but didn't really seem to sure. Does
anyone really think Diamond wrote their own D3D HAL for the NV1 chip? I
doubt it.

Those of us with Edge3D's can only hope that Nvidia will come through
soon with a reasonably efficient implementation of D3D hardware
acceleration, soon. I've checked out the specs, and it should be
possible. Or if you've still got some money to blow, get a card that
works with D3D, or better still, one optimized for the D3D spec. I
don't imagine you'll get too much for your Edge, though.

Buy in haste, repent at leisure.
