Diamond has send me this message when I asked them when there will be a
good driver for the viper pro video for windows 95:

Dear Viper Owner,

I would like to keep you informed about our continuing efforts to provide

a new Windows95 driver for Viper products.

To recap our efforts so far, four previous teams of engineers (two at
Weitek and two at Diamond) have failed to produce acceptable drivers.
Diamond has now, at its own expense and with no assistance from Weitek,

has newly commissioned a highly experienced engineer to lead completion
of a Win95 Viper driver. The lead engineer is a former Weitek employee
working as a contractor for Diamond. Diamond has already signed a
contract and is committing a 5-figure sum for driver completion with
special payments for timely completion. Managing the project for Diamond

is the former Weitek director of engineering who is now a Diamond
employee. The initial milestone for this driver is scheduled for end of

May/early June, so we should be able to report again on the progress to
you in just a short time.

For WinNT 4.0, we do not expect to have as serious a problem as there is

already a NT 4.0 preliminary driver in existence and at this time we
expect a driver for the Viper line to be on the WinNT 4.0 driver CD when

it ships from Microsoft.

Because of the uncertainties in any software engineering project, we
cannot guarantee the success or timely delivery of either the Win95 or NT

4.0 drivers, but we hope you can see that Diamond is extremely serious
about providing support for our products, including in the new and
technically difficult environment of Win95, for which neither the Viper
nor the Weitek graphics engine were designed.

Again we apologize for the delays. This was certainly not our intention.

We have now brought development matters under our own control (and
expense) and are no longer relying on the chip vendor for Win95 support.

I hope to have positive news to report about the Win95 driver development

in a very short time.

Best regards,

David Watkins
