My XP has an Advanced Installer hidden directory on all drives.
I don't know how they got there. (I have 20 partitions.)
They contain a lot of bytes.
I can remove them one-by-one and have done so on a few partitions.

How do I get rid of them? Should I?

masonc,

Wouldn't this question be better at its place in a newsgroup like

microsoft.public.windowsxp.help_and_support

instead of this one (which is related to programming rather than
maintaining).

Thank you, Rudy. I failed to find it in the haystack of the newsgroup
directory. It's there now. (maybe I thought programmers would be
most likely to know the answer, but they're a crusty lot)

:-) Yes, it can be hard to find the right newsgroup, even if you know it
exits.

I'm a (hobby) programmer myself, but have never even heard about the
"Advanced Installer" you spoke of. Ofcourse, my personal stance is that
programs should be as portable as possible, which means I seldom use an
installer.

Are you aware that Microsoft disconnected from the microsoft.public.*
newsgroups years ago, and they now have a rather high level of spam
at the newsgroups servers that still carry them?

Depends on the group, I suppose. I don't see hardly any in the microsoft.*
groups I frequent.
