Windows Service hogs CPU

Hi ,
I am running a windows service written using VC ++ on my machine
that uses 95-99% CPU at any point of time but occupies close to 27MB
of memory.With the service running,I cannot perform any simple
operation like even opening a notepad application.All these problems
are resolved the moment I stop the service.Can someone please help me
understand what causes this problem and if possible a solution ?
