I currently run a home network. 5 PCs connected to a switch with static IPs
in the 192.168.0.x range, one being a laptop connected via a wireless
network.
The laptop also has a built-in ethernet port connected to another PC with a
crossover cable (well, PC in disguise, it's an xbox actually). These have IP
addresses in the 192.168.1.x range. So the laptop can see both networks, but
the pc's can't see the xbox, and the 'box can't see the pc's.
So... I thought I'd try a network bridge running on the laptop (XP Pro) to
connect everything together.
Whenever I've tried this I lose the wireless connectivity to the main LAN.
I've tried setting the IP address of the bridge manually and it just won't
ping. It will ping the xbox on the cable quite happily though.
Any suggestions, I've been on it for hours now with no success.
Regards
Andy
The trick is to run:
netsh bridge set adapter 1 forcecompatmode=enable
where adapter 1 is my wireless card.
Many thanks for anyone who took the time to read my post.
