I have a Windows NT4 computer with a C-Itoh650 Printer, connected to LPT1
and shared as "Itoh650". My DOS application prints fine there.

On my second computer with Windows2000 I can connect to that printer via
SystemPanel -> Printers -> Add Network Printer. This works fine for windows
programs.
But: I need to use a DOS program on that machine also. So I used "net use
lpt1: \\nt4server\Itoh650" (my lpt1 port is disabled in BIOS).
Now my problem: When I use "copy con lpt1" I get an error "access denied".
But I am logged in with the same useraccount and password on both machines
(both have Admin Privileges).

Can anyone please give me a hint, what is wrong here...
Thanks

Martin

I should add that I could connect via "net use lpt..." to a third computer
running WinXP and the "copy con lpt1" works just fine there.

It seemes to be a security / permission problem with Windows NT (which I
don't understand because I work with Administrator privileges)
Any ideas?

So we're waiting on the WinXP part<grin>? I see WinNT/Win2k mentioned,
maybe you should try posting in one of the "microsoft.public.windowsnt.**"
or "microsoft.public.windows2000.**" newsgroups so the experts there can
assist you better.

Just a little hint - Posting to every OS networking newsgroup is very poor
netique, and most likely will draw more ire replies than getting the one
getting the answer you seek.
