new router for home

Hello,
I am looking into buying a new router. Currently using a Linksys
wrt54g wireless G v.3, running Tomato firmware. All is running fine
with 5 laptops running wirelessly. Two of the 5 have N capabilities
and the other 3 are G. I am told that the G mode is making the N
laptops suffer in speed. Will the same thing happen with a new router?
I have been looking at the following, Buffalo Air station N600 and
Asus RT- U56. Both are dual band. What are your thoughts about these

units? I will continue to read as much as I can about them, but many
inputs are often quite helpful.
