This is really in part a personal exercise, although it has some
practical aspects. eg saving having to add yet another device into a
workstation physical space.

I have a printer in an office that has an ethernet port, Instead of
putting in a router to connect I want to connect it directly to my
second wired network card on the computer. So directly from printer to
nic on computer.

My lan network is a 10.1.0.x network.
I have set up the second card with a static Ip address of 192.168.2.1
I have set up the printer with a manual / static address of
192.169.2.2

I have added the printer ports on my XP for that printer to print to
192.168.2.2.

Everything works fine. I can now print from that computer to that
printer. Yay...!!

Of course never leaving anything along I'm now wondering, can I make
it so that this printer will be available to others on the network in
the office.
This is where Im stumped.

I dont think if I give the second nic a static ip of 10.1.0.x that the
second network card will see the other network card and then be able
to get out to the netowork just because its the same ip range.

Or am I wrong. Does anyone know how I cant get the second card to show
up on the network while directly connected to the printer (if you know
what I mean).

Is my solution only good if you want to print to a local printer
connected directly to the nic card, and no good for other computers
being able to print to it.

Thanks.
