I've recently heard that having a lot of shortcuts on my desktop slows
down how fast the computer runs. I thought it only slowed down how
quickly it booted up, and that once all the shortcuts are loaded, things
run as fast as ever. Who's right?

Howdy :)

I think what they mean is that having a lot of Icons in your STARTUP group
uses large amounts of System Resources. By Startup Group, I'm referring to
Icons that appear on your Taskbar at the far Right end of your Taskbar, next
to the Clock The fewer Icons there, the faster your system will run. And
if those Programs lower your System Resources below 90% at Startup, many
games will "hang" during play.

Hope this helps :)
