Back to Breaking the Law!
|

Boy, did I have a busy semester! Once again I helped four classes get their books for free with NON-DRM PDFs. Each class had about 15 students, undergrads and graduate.
Here's a rundown of how much money I saved each class for this year:
Fundamentals of Financial Management 13th Edition (where's the 14th?)... more »

Windows 8: Rock ModernUI /w Logitech T650
|
| |
[quote]
Some people dislike Windows 8 ModernUI and although Microsoft did its very best, to make it usable with a mouse and keyboard, some people apparently can't get used to it.
For Desktop and Laptop Windows 8 users, without a touch screen there is a (relative cheap) solution now.
Here is the Product page of the Logitech Wireless Rechargeable Touchpad... more »

Got myself a Surface RT...
|

...and it rocks!
I definitely like it a lot. Has a very solid construction and a premium feel. As a tablet it's doing exactly what I need it to do ... browsing, watching videos, reading, simple games. The Windows 8 interface really makes a lot of sense on this thing, and it's very natural. Not that I have much of a problem with it on a desktop either, but on a tablet it's even better.... more »

Windows Advocacy?
|
| |
Are there any real Windows Advocates in here?
All I've read so far is garbage by (cr)Apple Mactards, probably sock puppets of the insane Michael "Snot" Glasser.
Windows 8 is *HOT*

I'm getting a little tired of...
|
| |
I'm getting a little tired of people who don't like Windows 8 thinking that they can speak on my behalf.
For example, in my new issue of PC World that I just started reading, someone wrote in and stated the following:
"...for those of us who use actual PCs, it [Windows 8] has little, if any, appeal."... more »

Huh ... now my printer works.
|
| |
I was disappointed about one specific thing after I installed the final, retail version of Windows 8 on my main desktop system -- I could not print. Windows 8 could see my printer, but whenever I tried to print anything, I just got an error message.
So now, after a couple of months have gone by, I decided to try again since I needed to print an address label and one page out of a PDF document. And lo and behold ... it works! Who knows why ... maybe some updates that were installed in the meantime fixed the issue.... more »

Oh No! More Windows Bugs!
|
| |
It seems Explorer likes to crash when people check for updates.
So in order to keep Windows "secure" it is best to run updates periodically.
Leave it to Microsoft to screw up the one thing that *might* make windows slightly secure, in some roundabout way.
If only Microsoft had enough money to develop solutions to these problems...... more »

Windows Shitware Strikes again!
|
| |
Thank God for the free market!
Here is a screen cap of a driver written my Microsoft, being installed on a Microsoft Operating System, for a piece of hardware manufactured by Microsoft.

Of course it freezes the machine.
Why can't Microsoft make something that actually works with its own shit?... more »

Ask.com Still sucks
|
| |
You don't see this on OSX! As usual, most software for Windows is pretty much useless. The only way companies can get users to install it, is by tricking them.
A good example is cutepdf and the piece of shit ask.com toolbar.
Why is ask.com even still around?
Is Jeeves in a union?
Do they get a nickel for every popup they generate on user's machines?... more »
