to download codecs/java the name is :

kubuntu_restricted_extras

to go to root terminal type

dtkt-reconfigure (hit tab key twice)

to fix the XSERVER after a crash

keep tapping on the ESC key

When grub comes up, it will ask for recovery option and say ---
recover

and then just select

xfix fix xserver

fixes the prompt.

and to know the command names in kubuntu (just type TAB TWICE)
if you know the beginning of the command so much the better.

dpkg ---------- is the debian package manager command or whatever
just hit dbkg TAB TAB
dbkg-reconfigure
will show up.
