Microsoft is now making you click once (on a tile for God's sake) to get to your desktop.

Microsoft is doomed. They are going out of business.

Microsoft toned down the visual effects and is going for a flatter look to conserve battery power on your laptop.

Microsoft is doomed. They are going out of business.

Microsoft is consolidating their OS so that your tablet can also be your PC and will work seamlessly with your phone.

Microsoft is doomed. They are going out of business.

Microsoft is opening an app store so that average consumers have an easy way to shop for and install programs that because of their sandboxed nature have increased security and result in less operating system rot.

Microsoft is doomed. They are going out of business.

Microsoft is embracing touch. Touching things is not how normal human beings interact with the world.

Microsoft is doomed. They are going out of business.

Microsoft is promoting a new API, WinRT, that appears to be all about making apps that are lightweight, because everyone uses the hundreds (thousands?) of features in Office to write letters and make simple presentations.

Microsoft is doomed. They are going out of business.

Microsoft is removing the Start button and replacing it with a hot spot that must be moused over in order to launch a new centralized menu, the Start "screen." This too goes against how normal people use computers, because when anyone over the age of 65 buys a computer and uses it for the first time, they can automatically tell that they're supposed to click on that orb with the multi-colored flag to make things happen. It's innate and common knowledge, and doesn't need to be taught, just like other things we know about Windows don't need to be taught. They are known since birth, and people can't learn new things.

Microsoft is doomed. They are going out of business.

"Shut down" is in a new place.

Microsoft is doomed. They are going out of business.

Microsoft has a new logo. They are doomed. They are going out of business.

The backlash we are hearing now has nothing to do with the backlash we heard when we...

...transitioned from DOS to any kind of GUI whatsoever (remember the WIMP acronym?).
...transitioned from Windows 3.x to Windows 95.
...transitioned from Windows 95 to Windows 98.
...transitioned from Windows 98 to Windows Me.
...transitioned from Windows Me to Windows XP.
...transitioned from Windows XP to Windows Vista.
...transitioned from ... okay, well, here I have to admit that most people seem to have embraced 7 quite nicely.

Maybe I didn't make myself clear. Microsoft is doomed. They are going out of business.

Have a great day! :-)
