finding gzip

Anyone know where an already compiled version of gzip for minix 2.0.2 can
be found? Or is it hiding?

Hi,

Claudio Tantignone ported gzip-1.2.4 to Minix 2, and I keep
a copy of it at

http://tendra4minix.sourceforge.net/gzip.html

in order to unpack the TenDRA sources on Minix 2.
It is not precompiled, but it is very easy to install
if you follow the instructions carefully.

Al Woodhull might also keep a copy of gzip for Minix 2 at

http://minix1.woodhull.com/

Kind regards.

Thanks for the info. A compiled copy of gzip124 does exist, however, at an
ftp or www site. Memory's a little skimpy here, but the reference was
found at google/groups in the comp.os.minix group, if anyone is looking.
Search for "gzip" and "barnyard", the latter being part of the site name.

Indeed, I have gzip 1.3.3, also ported by Claudio Tantignone -- my
notes indicate it was posted in March 2003. Like the port of gzip
1.2.4 mentioned by Jose, this is not a binary, but it is very easy to
compile.

Look at http://minix1.woodhull.com/pub/contrib/gzip-133.txt for more
info, and download http://minix1.woodhull.com/pub/contrib/gzip-133.tar.Z
for the source package.
