I also have the sound blaster but I do not have the time or interest at the
moment to program it for minix.
The register values are described in its User Reference Manual in Appendices
A to C on pages 60-65. However in order to program it, you need to have the
data sheets for the sound chips which are used. The adlib compatible uses
address 2x8-2x9 Hexa. The music chip type can be found by looking at the IC
part number.
The voice chip is designed by Creative Technologies(Singapore). Actually
it is just a D/A and A/D converters but they call it DSP. The specs can only
be found from this company. They sell it as a software development kit but
what is required is only the technical reference manual. It is expensive if
sold in U.S.A. but it is cheaper here in Singapore. If someone is so keen
to program Sound Blaster, I could arrange to purchase it and give details to
this group. Maybe I can just phone up the company.
