Back to 1992. Linus announced he doesn't like microkernels and I wrote
a little response at www.cs.vu.nl/~ast/reliable-os. This will cause
many hits to the MINIX 3 servers. Normally we can handle it, but today
things may be slow.

Can anyone help by mirroring the main CD-ROM image file

www.minix3.org/~ast/download/IDE-3.1.2.iso.zip

and giving me the URL to put on the DOWNLOAD page. Just for today.
After that, we should be able to handle it.

The more, the merrier.

Thanks

have you think about using p2p?

Oops. Wrong URL. It should be

www.minix3.org/download/IDE-3.1.2.iso.zip

Sorry about that.

Using P2P to handle a 300-MB file and get it set up and work reliably
quickly is going to be too difficult I think

A torrent should work shouldn't it?

I think a torrent would be a good idea. And it _should_ work.

I have setup 2 mirrors. One in California and one in Ohio. ( They are
both 100mbit links )

http://mirror.toc2rta.com/minix/
http://ion.toc2rta.com/minix/

I have mirrored both the zip/bz2 IDE iso images and the vmware image.

If there is anything i forgot feel free to email me chr...@toc2rta.com

In the grand spirit of community, I got a copy off everything off of
Niacin's mirror and put it on our mirror servers here at Easynews in AZ.

Enjoy!

Count one more!
I saw the paper, downloaded IDE-3.1.2.iso.bz2 and decided to give it a
try using qemu.
Why not put it online..?

It's non-trivial if you've already got python installed. The real problem
is seeding it but that can be done from command line clients as well. It
looks like you've rounded up plenty of good mirrors, however. I have a
working full install of 3.2.2 for VMware if anyone else would like to test
it with VMplayer and host a copy of it. I've had one person let me know
that it boots w/o a hitch despite the steep memory requirements for X.

I've made a torrent available:
http://iddl.vt.edu/~jackie/IDE-3.1.2.iso.bz2.torrent
(cross posting to /. as well)

Thank you! I'll seed it when I get it working. I get the message:

Problem connecting to tracker - ('url error', 'unknown url type', 'kalak.dk....

Any idea what could be wrong?

My mistake - I made a typo in the announce URL. Try downloading the
torrent file again (same URL)

Excellent! It's downloading from you at good speed now. It'll be
finished and I'll start seeding in 20 minutes.

Again, thank you!

Collected off the torrent this afternoon and left the torrent
running. Currently a grand total of "0.0M uploaded at 0.0KiB/s", which
would suggest that the Slashdot hump has passed.

1.7MB uploads here since I started seeding yesterday.

It seems so.
