How to tell when users last logged in?
I have a wonderful redhat 9 gateway/server/firewall on a 24/7 ADSL connection, it has 3 FQDNs on it and I made a few accounts for my friends to use so that their /public_html directories can be used for a web host. I use apache and have userdirs turned on and used the httpd.conf file to add virtual hosts for the FQDNs. Some of these accounts seem to be unused for a... more »

HP DL380 / SLES 8 and cpu usage bug?
I have installed SLES 8 on a new HP DL380 G4 with 2 x 3.6GHz cpus and with the machine just sitting there doing nothing it show ~75% cpu usage on one of the virtual HT cpus (cpu 1 or cpu 3). We have tried kernel 2.4.21-251-smp and 2.4.21-261-smp with the cciss driver from HP and both kernels show this behavior. We are also seeing... more »

Mail Server / MX record
I have only 1 Exchange Server and 1 MX record, but I would like to have a backup if the Exchange 2003 ever goes down, I still want users to be able to send and receive mail (even if their primary mailbox is down). Is this doable if so how? Keep in mind, we do not have the resources to cluster, and we prefer not to outsource this. We were thinking of using a... more »

Question about gcc
Hi, I recently installed Fedora Core 3 on my laptop. Whenever I try to compile a C/C++ program I keep getting the following error: bash: gcc: command not found I am guessing either gcc/g++ is not installed or some settings aren't right. In either case I would greatly appreciate any advice as to what... more »

Questions about WalMart Lindows Laptop
Does anybody have first-hand experience with the $498 Linspire Laptop from WalMart? I'm on a very tight budget, but of course I don't want to buy one and then find out that it's a total piece of junk! My main application would be to surf the Internet via WiFi while I'm traveling, and to send & receive Email; and maybe to store digital... more »

Okay to clone drive to larger size drive?
I have a redhat 9 system with a 27Gb hard drive and am quite pleased with it. I was running out of room in the /home directories and with a little help from here, I was able to graft a second hard drive onto the root tree and mount it a /home. This worked out perfectly, I was able to copy everything from the old /home directory to the new hard drive, gave it a... more »
