One of the nice things about Linux is that it's cheap. (actually, free! :-)
I would imagine that quite a few people are probably running Linux at home
like myself and don't have their home wired with 10base2 or 10baseT or
whatever... (yes, I *know* some of you do). Therefore the Ethernet board
TCP/IP support is nice, but not useable.
If SLIP/PPP support was available, this would open up a heck of a lot more
opportunities for people with 'just' modems.
Is the TCP/IP stuff slated to be included in the next 'standard' Kernel
release (Linus?).
I notice that my machine has a 16450 instead of the 16550...is this going
to be a problem when (if?) SLIP becomes available?
Thanks.

Yes, the tcp/ip subdirectory will be part of the next major release (ie
0.98), although I won't have it compiled into the standard bootimage.
People who need it can recompile the kernel easily enough, and it's not
essential for the rest of the system.

PS. And yes, 'ps', 'free' etc will be slightly broken once more, but
not too badly this time.
