Two Monitors on Nvidia Ion with nvidia driver
|
| |
We have some Zotac IONITX boards that we use as X-Terminals with LTSP with 30" monitors (no dual-link DVI support for Atom chipsets from Intel, that's why we chose an Ion-based board). Unfortunately, to drive the monitor at full resolution is beyound the capabilities of the nv driver, so we use the proprietary nvidia driver. This setup... more »

virtual desktop
|
| |
I'm used to the "legacy" feature of X that allows you to specify a "virtual" display larger than the actual display in xorg.conf, and the actual display will be shifted into the virtual area by pushing the mouse against the relevant edge. What is the official term for this feature? Recent releases of the Intel driver have not supported this... more »

fglrx hangs when using Xen
|
| |
Hi, Here at work I use a Dell Optiplex with an ATI Radeon HD 2400 XT dualhead videocard, RV610 chipset, with 2 monitors. I created a nice dualhead setup in X.org, using the proprietary fglrx driver. All of this in Debian Lenny. So far it has worked reasonably fine. However, I want to use this machine to run Xen, so I can use both a... more »

Monitordaten für Autoconf angeben?
|

Beim Wechsel auf Fedora 12... more »

High CPU usages and sometimes hard crashes in my Debian/Linux.
|
| |
Hello, The last few weeks, I noticed my old Linux/Debian box (2.6.30-2) keeps getting random and rare high CPU due to Xorg and sometimes crashes. My box, even via SSH2, felt slow. I checked the processes and saw: $ w 11:53:37 up 6 days, 4:19, 3 users, load average: 6.26, 6.04, 6.19 USER TTY FROM LOGIN@ IDLE JCPU PCPU WHAT... more »

vi keys navigation mode
|
| |
I'm addicted to vi/vim's basic cursor movement model, which pretty much adds up to 'hjkl' moving one terminal cell left/down/up/right and optionally Ctrl-U and Ctrl-D paging half a screen up/down and possibly some variation on the 'g' key to emulate <Home> and <End>. Unfortunately many applications and utilities that run full-screen... more »

Radeon 4670 on Debian Squeeze (experience report)
|
| |
A while ago I bought a Radeon 4670 card. Unfortunately it did not work as desired (giving a resolution of 2560x1600) in Debian Lenny. Recently I upgraded to Debian Squeeze, and now this card works nicely (with a few twists, see below). The X server is 1.6.5 and the radeon driver, which is used, is 6.12.3. I also tried the Live CDs of Fedora... more »
