Emulate 3rd button without Xorg.conf
|
| |
Hello.
I'm using Xorg, and I don't have an /etc/X11/xorg.conf file
(everything is set by autoconfiguration on startx).
Which command do I use to tell the server to emulate the 3rd button
with button1+button2 (Emulate3rdButton)?
I looked in the manpages of xmodmap and xset but didn't find an answer... more »

running xmodmap on startx
|
| |
Hello
I've got some custom keymappings in .Xmodmap such as mapping the caps lock key
to control, and the command key on a macbook to alt etc. Now, I'm pretty sure
my .Xmodmap file used to be applied automatically when I started the X server
(through startx, no display managers), but it's not happening any more, or my... more »

|
| |
Hi.
A few days ago, I installed a new clean Debian stable since my old one from 2004 was badly shaped. I am still trying to configure it up like my old one from scratch.
How do I run Guarddog v2.6.0 with root/sudo access in Gnome v2.3 since I don't like KDE v4.4.3 (currently installed too)? I can run Guarddog... more »

KDE v3.5.10's KMix v2.6.1 unmute button is broken.
|
| |
Hi.
Is it me or is KDE v3.5.10's KMix v2.6.1 unmute button broken? I have to use Alsamixergui v1.00 to unmute "Master" stereo speakers for its audio to come back! Mute and volume controls work fine, but not unmute. It seems like KMix is not communicating with my ALSA's PulseAudio onboard audio (lspci showed "00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801JI... more »

xterm: query font used after larger-vt-font() calls
|
| |
I have used Debian for years, but decided to try Ubuntu on a new desktop to get more up to date packages. I got most things to where I like them, but there are still a few annoying issues. The current one is the xterm font. If I start the xterm with a "fixed" font and increase it a few times (by larger-vt-font()... more »

Mouse pointer drifts, when I plug a joystick into the computer
|
| |
When I plug a joystick into the computer, the mouse pointer immediately starts to drift, and in some applications, the windows contents start scrolling downwards, so I can only see the top lines of documents. Presumably, this is because X is interpreting joystick input as pointer movement. Is there a way to disable this behaviour? I don't want to use the... more »
