- X applications tend to use button 2, and sometimes for actions (like
inserting at the cursor position in Emacs) where accidential scrolling
causes the wrong thing to happen.
- The scroll wheel on wheeled mice requires considerably more force to
press as button than button 2 of a true 3-button mouse.
Maybe you as X users have had the same problem (that's why I am
posting here). So I was happy when I finally found such a mouse: The
HP DY651. When I plugged it in, dmesg showed:
usb 7-2: New USB device found, idVendor=046d, idProduct=c014
usb 7-2: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=0
usb 7-2: Product: Optical USB Mouse
usb 7-2: Manufacturer: Logitech
So maybe one can get this mouse also from other sources than HP, maybe
even from Logitech themselves; I did not find anything on a short web
search, though.
