I need help getting my mouse to work under XFree86 3.1. X comes up but I
have no cursor control with my mouse.

Gateway 2000 486DX 66V
Microsoft mouse, COM2 port
Diamond Viper VLB, 2MB
CrystalScan 1572FS monitor

The video chipset is Weitek P9000. I'm using XF86_P9000 server. I'm using
"Microsoft" protocol in my XFConfig file, but have tried the others as well.

Linux was installed using Slackware 2.1. I used 'setup' to configure. My
/dev/mouse is correctly linked. I get no mouse response under any video
resolution. I've checked for IRQ conflicts and found none.

I'm not running GPM. And I get no error messages about my mouse device
not being found or anything like that from running X.

I'd appreciate any help or suggestions. I'm a newbie to Linux, and more
so to X.

Thanks!
