I have a new Fedora 11 installation.
When I try to run "xclock" and similar, I get the following
error: "Warning: Missing charsets in String to FontSet
conversion" and sometimes "no useable font found".

I have installed all xorg fonts and in fact all fonts that
came withe the distribution. I also have xfs running.

I'm not that attached to xclock, but want to make sure I
have a working X system. Any idea what the problem is?

Thanks!

how did you install the fonts? IIRC for gnome, I had to run 'fontcache'
before they became usable.

I installed the RPM packages. I don't seem to have
"fontcache" on my system.

Try sudo fc-cache.

Actually turned out to be a LOCALE issue. My locale was set
for UTF8 and most fonts don't support this apparently
