someone know how netdisco works please ?

Hi,

first, sorry for my english because i am french.

I had installed netdisco 1.1 on a ubuntu 11.10 but i don't know how
fill the database.

I havec tried the command "netdisco -d pc02" where pc02 is the smtp
client but netdisco returns :


[pc02] Discover starting
[pc02] [trying SNMP Version 1]
[pc02] [trying SNMP Version 1]
[pc02] [trying SNMP Version 1]
! Device Not Supported or I can't connect it via SNMP


pc02 is a windows 7 client and smtp agent is installed on it and when
i tryied snmp walk on my ubuntu client, it works !

Someone can help me please ?

SNMP and smtp are two different things.

The output you list shows netdisco trying SNMP version 1.

If you really do have snmp installed on the Windoze pc,
what version is it?

You may need to invoke netdisco discover with an appropriate
version setting for that host.

In fact, i would want that netdisco discover in automatic mode all
devices connected to my network. How can i know what machine use snmp
v1 or other.

You either asked the person who installed SNMP on the machine or
do a query to the machine to find out.

The documentation to which I referred you explains how to set
up the appropriate default version in the configuration file.

Furthermore, have you tried doing a websearch on your problem?

Because you really need to read the information at

as to how to possibly resolve the problem of

It is not a fix, but a work-around.
