migrate/upgarde centos 5.8 to 6.1

without going into details, I'm looking for a (reasonably!) straight yes or no...

Is it possible to migrate a centos 5.8 server to a Centos 6.1 server?

Or is it a case of rebuilding it from scratch as 6.1 ?

Yes, it is possible (at least, it was for 4 to 5), but you wouldn't like
the results. A rebuild is a lot less work.

It is possible but not generally recommended.

This is the preferred and suggested path, but as with all things it
depends on your own current setup.
