Oracle
|
| |
Oracle In Classical Antiquity, an oracle was a person or agency considered to be a source of wise counsel or prophetic predictions or precognition of the future, inspired by the gods. As such it is a form of divination. The word oracle comes from the Latin verb ōrāre "to speak" and properly refers to the priest or priestess uttering the prediction. In extended use, oraclemay also refer to the site of the oracle, and to the oracular utterances themselves, called khrēsmoi (χρησμοί) in Greek.... more »

arcconf degraded mirror should i replace both drives?
|
| |
Hello I notice that my mirror is degraded. All other things look fine. I believe the drive with serial number WD-WXL309068699 is causing the problems. The drive with all the aborted commands WD-WXL309059103 is not listed in the first report. So I am not sure what that means. Any suggestions? Should I replace both drives in the mirror 1. Which one should I replace first. They are both present.... more »

Determine whether kernel built-in driver supports a device
|
| |
All,
I'm trying to find a way to accurately determine whether all the hardware on some system has a valid driver installed either via a kernel module or built-in to the kernel.
I'm working with RHEL 5.5 on a Dell Optiplex 990.
I know that lspci is a good starting point, but it's not reliable because it could be manually updated and new drivers don't always update it. I know that I can look look at /lib/modules/$(uname -r)/modules.pcimap to find out whether there is a driver module for the device base on the ID, but what about built-in drivers? I've installed a new kernel and I'm trying to find out whether the built-in agpgart-intel module supports the host bridge with vendor:device ID 8086:0100.... more »

HOW2 boot & run with mouse & NO kybrd?
|
| |
I can boot and run/use ETHoberon without a keyboard.
Because ETHO's chording mouse action operates on any
text, anywhere on the screen, you can do anything
without a keyboard. Of course if you want to write an email containing a "q",
it's more convenient to fetch the "q" from the kybrd than... more »
