Linux on the Mac

After helping me install (with little or no problems) the SLS Linux
distribution over the weekend, my friend was so impressed that he wanted
to know if it was available for the Macintosh.

I have seen the postings about the Amiga porting project, but was
wondering if there was any attempts at conquoring the Mac?
