Priority Inversion in SCHED_OTHER

What is the default priority inversion algorithm in use by the SCHED_OTHER(SCHED_NORMAL) class of processes? The real time process classes can use mutexes configured with PTHREAD_PRIO_PROTECT or PTHREAD_PRIO_INHERIT but apparently these attributes are not directly available for the normal non-realtime processes.
