Is there a library (perhaps related to ?spell) that can analyze the
structure (syntax) of words, finding the basename (car is the baseword
of cars), synonyms etc. I want this to improve some search mechanisms
I have in my application. Search for cars should be give a hit on car
and vice versa. Are the *spell projects, such as ispell. aspell and
myspell, supposed to give solutions to these problems?

postgresql has fulltext search. perhaps overkill.
